The Debaters - Chutzpah! Edition
Join us on the opening night of Chutzpah! for a special live presentation of the comedy debate format made famous on CBC Radio. Starring Jacob Samuel (last seen at Chutzpah! in 2021), Charlie Demers, and Guest Moderator Kate Davis. Creator Richard Side brings his celebrated hit show direct to Chutzpah! with an all-star lineup of Canadian comics, where comedians go toe-to-toe in a battle of facts and funny and where audiences pick the winner.
Our debate topic - The Ten Commandments. Holy Moses, is it time for some new ones? Award winning comedians Jacob Samuel and Charlie Demers face-off on whether these ancient Hebrew rules need an update. Because, after all, they aren’t written in stone. Or, are they? Toronto funny lady Kate Davis presides like Solomon as these two bright lights of the Canadian stand-up scene engage in verbal battle of biblical proportions. Will the Ten Commandments withstand the slings and arrows of comedic assault or will they crumble like the walls of Jericho?
