The Best of Israeli Comedy


Closing Night Presenting Sponsor Israel Bonds presents a very special lineup of some of Israel’s top stand-up comedians. Curated by Tel Aviv-based comic Benji Lovitt and hosted by Vancouver's Kyle Berger, some of Israel's top stand-up comedians, including Yossi Tarablus, Dana Perry Segal, and Deborah Kaye will bring comic viewpoints and stories of day-to-day life in Israel, performed in English. With a range of diverse perspectives from Israeli-born comics to newcomers from the US and Australia, these comics keep it real and will keep audiences laughing and learning.

    The Debaters - Chutzpah! Edition

    Join us on the opening night of Chutzpah! for a special live presentation of the comedy debate format made famous on CBC Radio. Starring Jacob Samuel (last seen at Chutzpah! in 2021), Charlie Demers, and Guest Moderator Kate Davis. Creator Richard Side brings his celebrated hit show direct to Chutzpah! with an all-star lineup of Canadian comics, where comedians go toe-to-toe in a contest of facts and funny and where audiences pick the winner. Our debate topic - The Ten Commandments. Holy Moses, is it time for some new ones? Award winning comedians Jacob Samuel and Charlie Demers face-off on whether these ancient Hebrew rules need an update. Because, after all, they aren’t written in stone. Or, are they? Toronto funny lady Kate Davis presides like Solomon as these two bright lights of the Canadian stand-up scene engage in verbal dust-up of biblical proportions.  Will the Ten Commandments withstand the test of time?  Don’t miss The Debaters Chutzpah Edition, for you, the live audience, will decide.     Nani Noam Vazana

    Nani Noam Vazana is one of the world’s only artists composing new songs in the endangered Ladino language. Raised in Israel in a Hebrew-speaking household, she discovered interconnected Arabic and Ladino music when visiting her grandmother’s home in Fez. Nani captures the spirit of this ancient, matriarchal language and culture and propels it into the 21st century with socially pertinent lyrics, fusing the work with raw, flamenco-like vocals and surprising instrumentations including mariachi.     The Flame

    The Flame curates another moving and hilarious evening of storytelling featuring a multicultural lineup and musical guests. The Flame is a fiery, Vancouver-based grassroots storytelling series where Real People share their personal True Stories in front of a live audience, under the direction of Artistic Director and Host Deb Williams. This year's edition includes storytellers Bukkie Adewuyi, Ying Lin, Spencer Danko, Nic Enright-Morin, Jeff Rotin, Patrick Keating, and more, with musical guest LittleFox.  Eligible for ChutzPack pricing
